Working Groups

The Green Ribbon Commission organizes its work through sector- and topic-focused working groups aligned with the priorities of its strategic plan. These groups bring together leaders in commercial real estate, cultural institutions, health care, higher education, coastal resilience, and grid modernization to share expertise, surface common challenges, and advance practical solutions grounded in research, analysis, and collective action.

Commercial Real Estate

The Commercial Real Estate Working Group convenes Boston’s leading property owners, developers, and real estate organizations to accelerate building decarbonization, strengthen resilience, and support the implementation of the City’s climate goals.

Cultural Institutions

The Cultural Institutions Working Group brings together Boston’s arts, sports, historic, nature-based, and entertainment organizations to advance climate action within their institutions, across the cultural sector, and through the audiences and communities they serve.

Health Care

The Health Care Working Group brings together Greater Boston’s leading health care institutions to reduce emissions, strengthen facility and community resilience, and advance the health benefits of climate action.

Higher Education

The Higher Education Working Group brings together Boston’s world-leading colleges and universities to share knowledge, advance collaboration, and apply their research, talent, and institutional leadership to the City’s climate goals.

Coastal Resilience

The Coastal Resilience Working Group brings together leaders across sectors to help Boston prepare for rising seas and coastal flooding by advancing coordinated approaches to resilience planning, financing, governance, and implementation.

Grid Modernization

The Boston Grid Modernization Working Group brings together the City, utilities, and major energy users to improve coordination, accelerate critical infrastructure, and support a cleaner, more reliable, and more resilient energy system.
