The Legislature’s failure this session to enact critical legislation that would accelerate the transition to a clean energy economy is profoundly disappointing. In Boston, the Green Ribbon Commission has long highlighted the need to improve and streamline the energy infrastructure permitting process while redressing historic environmental and economic inequities in our neighborhoods. Our stakeholders will continue to push for badly needed reforms that will simplify the permitting process and enable renewable resources to be deployed effectively throughout the city. The Legislature’s inaction will present needless obstacles, but failure is not an option.
